Winnipeg’s Living Hour return with Internal Drone Infinity, a fourth album that turns fleeting moments into something timeless. Blending dreamy noise rock, folky slowcore, and fuzzy indie-pop, the band—led by Sam Sarty’s hauntingly vivid lyrics—crafts a sound they call “yearn-core,” capturing memory, longing, and the quiet magic hidden in everyday life.
We caught up with the band to talk about their New Record out everywhere today :)
Congratulations on your new single Wheel and signing with Beloved Records! Can you tell us a bit about the story behind the song?
Thank you so much! The story of “Wheel” begins with buying a car off Facebook Marketplace in British Columbia after spending some time at my grandfather's house on Vancouver Island. Turns out the car was junk, but I had no choice but to drive it home to Winnipeg. It took 3 days. I was driving through the mountains, and the headlights were so dim, and for a stretch there was nowhere to turn off. It felt like a weird, horrific video game — navigating the road and dodging danger.
Winnipeg has a really vibrant music scene. How important has your local community been to Living Hour?
Winnipeg has an amazing music scene and is full of inspiring artists. We have been surrounded by a sweet and supportive music community since we started as a band which has allowed us to spread our wings.
You worked with Melina Duterte on this album. How did that collaboration shape the record?
We first met Melina at SXSW when we both played the Urban Outfitters stage and then we reconnected in Winnipeg when she was on tour with Chastity Belt when we opened for them. We hit it off and eventually sent some new album demos to her and asked if she was interested in working with us and she was! She came to Winnipeg for 2 weeks in November of 2023 and we made the album at two different local studios, it was truly an amazing experience. We have great in studio dynamic with Melina and we’re very thankful for how she added her magic to our songs. She was super encouraging and gave us a lot of good ideas for how to achieve the sounds we were aiming for.
