Beloved Records proudly welcomes Winnipeg dream-pop outfit Living Hour to the roster, as they unveil their new single “Wheel” — the first taste of their forthcoming fourth album Internal Drone Infinity, out Friday 17 October.
Written by lyricist and vocalist Sam Sarty, “Wheel” was born from a surreal and harrowing journey:
“The story begins with me buying a car off Facebook Marketplace in BC,” Sarty shares. “It turned out to be a lemon, but I had no choice but to drive it home to Winnipeg. It took three days. I was alone in the mountains, the headlights were barely working, and there were no safe places to pull over. It felt like some twisted video game—navigating darkness, dodging disaster, just trying not to die. And through it all, I kept thinking about how deeply betrayed I felt by the men who sold me that car.”
The song simmers with a sense of helplessness and rage — the kind that festers in silence. There’s the car salesman, the roadside cops, the ex beside her in the passenger seat — all shadows of power and dismissal.
“In the song,” Sarty continues, “I imagined an alternate reality where I die on that road, but my spirit returns to haunt them — a vengeful force they underestimated, contorted, and discarded.”
