Quicksand Announce New Album Bring On The Psychics: Hear Two Songs

Some news to put your mind at ease: post-hardcore legends Quicksand have announced plans to put out their first full-length release in five years. While their Bring On the Psychics hits your mindscape in full this summer, the New York trio and Revolver have partnered up to premiere not one, but two groove-heavy heaters from the album right fucking now.First up is “Get to It.” A performance-style video directed by Jesse Korman, which you’ll find up above, finds Quicksand — vocalist-guitarist Walter Schreifels, bassist Sergio Vega and drummer Alan Cage — delivering a sleek-chorded, but gain-surged pound.

While the vid features cobalt-cool color grading, Schreifels’ carpe diem-themed screams run in the red.“It’s tough to talk about your own music and what it means, not only because I sometimes don’t understand it myself but [because] in a way it robs the listener of their own interpretation,” Schreifels says, though he concedes that “Get to It” is about  “poking holes in the excuses for standing still.” He elaborates: “Procrastination is something I’ve struggled with my whole life, so I’m always looking for a new mantra to help overcome my tendency to put things off.”Additionally, the band have dropped a visualizer for the record’s “Regenerate,” which slips into a classically melodic and head-bobbing Quicksand groove.

You’ll find that one down below.“‘Regenerate’ is about finding new paths forward. It’s a theme I think we all return to. No matter how well you play it, life will keep taking things away from you,” Schreifels notes. “It sucks but this is how we learn and grow as people, so it might be we’re living the most when faced with having to get back up from a hard hit.”Though Quicksand teamed-up with Hot Water Music for a split EP in 2024, Bring On the Psychics is the proper follow up to 2021’s Distant Populations. The new album also features "Supercollider" from that joint effort, and marks Quicksand's first full-length release through Equal Vision (who had issued that split).

Bring On the Psychics is due out July 17th via Equal Vision, though a pre-order for the LP on exclusive "Pink Splatter" vinyl is available now
